What is Shared Decision Making?

Shared decision making (SDM) is a communication process by which patients and clinicians work together to make optimal health care decisions that align with what matters most to patients. Learn more here.

In 2005, MGH established one of the first Shared Decision Making programs in the country, dedicated to promoting use of patient decision aids in routine care. Learn more how about our center was formed and grown here.

We hold events throughout the year and partner with different organizations to promote shared decision making. Check them out here and we hope to see you at one of them!
