ANNOUNCING: Stoeckle Health Decision Sciences Center
September 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM EST: We are pleased to announce that the Health Decision Sciences Center will carry forward the name and legacy of Dr. John D. Stoeckle. Dr. Stoeckle was a distinguished and visionary leader in primary care at Massachusetts General Hospital, and we are honored to continue his longstanding commitment to improving patient care.
For many years, Susan Edgman-Levitan has led the John D. Stoeckle Center for Primary Care Innovation with exceptional dedication, advancing its mission and making important contributions to patient-centered care locally and nationally. Our early work at the HDSC grew from a Stoeckle Center-led program in decision aid delivery to primary care patients, and we have worked alongside Susan and her team since our founding in 2010.
Over the coming year, HDSC Director Karen Sepucha, Medical Director Leigh Simmons, and the HDSC team will work closely with Susan, who will help guide this transition and ensure that the Stoeckle Center’s programs, accomplishments, and legacy continue to inform and strengthen our work.
We invite you to learn more about the history and legacy of the Stoeckle Center on our website. More to come!
